Yesterday, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno of Springfield, Massachusetts, became the latest mayor to sign on to the Mayors coalition of Freedom Massachusetts, the campaign to defend #TransLawMA at the ballot this November and continue protecting our transgender friends and neighbors from discrimination.

“Simply put, treat everyone equally and it comes back ten-fold,” said Mayor Sarno in a statement.

Sarno becomes the sixteenth mayor in the coalition, joining a group that represents cities statewide from Salem to Swampscott. These mayors have made their voices heard by standing up for equality and fairness, and they believe as we do that transgender people deserve the same protections afforded everyone else in the Bay State.

We need to continue to work hard to defend #TransLawMA at the ballot this November, and with the support of mayors, businesses, law enforcement, and other coalitions, we will be able to better mobilize voters to turn out and protect our transgender friends and neighbors.
