About Freedom Massachusetts Education Fund

Freedom Massachusetts Education Fund is the statewide campaign to educate the public about the importance of and need for inclusive nondiscrimination protections, including protections in public accommodations for transgender Bay Staters.

To achieve this goal FMEF works closely with our diverse coalition of state and local organizations, including faith, business and civic leaders to increase awareness of inclusive protections. The public education effort works to organize and train the large cadre of volunteers and activists to engage in conversations about why protections matter and to participate in activities that increase understanding and support our issue.

Position Description

Freedom for All Americans has immediate openings for full and part-time Interns. We are looking for energetic and self-motivated individuals to join our team.

Interns will work together with the Field staff and volunteers throughout the state to identify opportunities for education, reach out to new supporters, and build our team of activists working to increase support for inclusive nondiscrimination. Interns will be given specific project areas to focus on including outreach, research, training team, coalition management and data management depending on skill and availability. However, all interns will be expected to participate in volunteer recruiting opportunities in some way.

Opportunities exist for interns to work from the Boston offices of partner organizations, or to work remotely from areas across the state. Regular attendance on a weekly organizing call will be required. Reliable personal transportation is recommended with valid drivers license.

  • Demonstrated support for LGBT issues, including inclusive nondiscrimination, and excitement for working with a diverse team of activists and supporters.
  • Interest in recruiting, motivating, activating, and training volunteers.
  • Willingness to conduct outreach over the phone to organize meetings with prospective supporters and to encourage individuals to become more active in the campaign.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work evenings and weekends encouraged
  • Prior experience working on issues of relevance to LGBT community is a plus, but not required.
